The Ultimate Grand Theft Auto

The hype of Grand Theft Auto V is continuously growing with sporadic screenshots and the rumors that are piling up against the different news of next-gen consoles. But the growth of GTA V is unleashing new questions about the future of the Grand Theft Auto series and what gamers could possibly see years from now.

An interview with Rockstar North head Leslie Benzies revealed that gamers may someday play a GTA game that contains all of the popular locations seen throughout the series.

“Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas,” Benzies said. “In that context, re-imagining Vice City would be very interesting.”

Re-imagining Vice City outside of the 80’s influence would be extremely interesting to say the least, particularly since the 80’s seemed to fuel that location, but my main excitement rests in the chance to see all of these places tied together inside the same era, seeing how these different places mechanically work together, and realizing the differences between them.

Just imagining the freedom that would be unleashed inside the fun of free roaming is what fuels my excitement. I could go cliff diving off of Mt. Chiliad and then hop on a plane and a dive off of a skyscraper somewhere in Liberty City. Imagination from the developers could make this a monster of a game, and the storylines could be immense!

But would this insane growth ultimately lead GTA into a brick wall? What else could be added to enhance this game if everything was already included? Would Rockstar contemplate creating new cities to explore, or would a game like this ultimately signal the end of the Grand Theft Auto series?
