Does anyone remember the movie Cry Wolf? The movie consists of a group of teenagers who decide to play a game called “Cry Wolf” where someone is marked as a “wolf” and the group tries to figure out who it is. Of course in a normal slasher film, people actually start getting killed blah blah blah. But when the movie was released, it ignited a very popular Cry Wolf game that was hosted by AOL. To say I was addicted would be an understatement. I wasn’t aware of the Mafia or Werewolf party game at the time, and for a while I believed that this Cry Wolf game was a new and wickedly awesome experience.
Now, BlankMediaGames is creating their own version of the murder mystery game called Town of Salem. Town of Salem is a game of deception set during the witch trials, where every player contains a particular role to help them try to discover the killers who are picking off the townspeople one-by-one at night. The game ends when one side remains. A tech video below showcases just how far the game has progressed. As of right now, the website and the alpha servers for the game are currently down, but it’s been revealed that they should both be reactivated sometime this week.
