I fucking love Dragon Age… but you all should know this by now.
I’ve been ridiculously busy in the past month and I haven’t really had a chance to gush over the newly released trailers or livestreams BioWare has shared, but I’m still here drooling… waiting…
I just watched one of the new trailers highlighting the characters Iron Bull, Sera, and Dorian (with his magical mustache). But along with this trailer comes with some details that identify exactly why this new title is considered a Mature game by the ESRB.
It isn’t all about violence and gore…
The game includes some sexual material: a female character briefly depicted in front of a man’s torso (fellatio is implied); characters depicted topless or with exposed buttocks while lying in bed or after sex; some dialogue referencing sex/sexuality (e.g., “I will bring myself sexual pleasure later, while thinking about this with great respect” and “The way your t*ts bounce when I pin your arms and take you on the side of the bed…”). The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” appear in dialogue.
And from the descriptions, particularly the dialogue, this isn’t going to include matching frilly underwear shots like in Dragon Age: Origins. At the risk of sounding like a boy who has just hit puberty… I so can’t wait to dive into the romance subplots.
Just in case some of you are still in the dark about who will be available to woo, here’s an awesome list (I love lists):
- Cassandra – Interested in male characters
- Blackwall – Interested in female characters
- Josephine – Interested in both male and female characters
- Iron Bull – Interested in both male and female characters
- Sera – Interested in female characters
- Dorian – Interested in male characters
- Cullen – Interested in female elves and female humans
- Solas – Interested in female elves only
This should provide several different possibilities for playthroughs (I normally like to play through DA games with a focus on each romance option), and with the amount of content put into this game… it could take a long while. BioWare’s Mike Laidlaw previously commented on the subject. “The story takes a great deal of time to unfold, as do the relationships players develop with followers. As a result, you could play the game for a significant length of time before discovering that a follower isn’t interested.”
He continued, “No matter what type of character your choose to play, more than one possible romance option will be available.” Dragon Age games rely heavily on your player’s choices and actions, and Inquisition is no different. However, in this title, it seems like the consequences could be a lot more severe in terms of charming your in-game crush.
Each character’s romancability is based on their characterization, story, and goals. Thank you, BioWare! While most of this information is fairly aged, I’ve been sifting through other released trailers and info just to ridiculously hype myself up for this game (less than a month away, guys!).
From the information released on these characters so far, who do you see yourself romancing first?
I can’t choose.
